| Raven Island™ is an online “virtual world” which uses an Internet community to teach kids lifesaving fire prevention and safety skills. Children 6 to 15 are invited to customize their “virtual selves” onscreen, then team with others to extinguish fires, fix hazards or escape danger.
CTI developed Raven Island with the Alaska Department of Public Safety and is believed to be the first online attraction of its kind featuring authentic Alaskan cultural themes. Creators spent a full year researching rural Alaskan communities and lifestyles to design relevant task simulations, and children log on from around the world to discover the Alaskan way of life as they learn.
Raven Island is reached through www.raven-island.com or via www.whyville.com, one of the Internet’s leading virtual worlds for children with more than three million members. A national sponsorship program is pending.
